Sometimes it's nice to have a menu option serve as a link to a different website or even a specific media file, like a PDF document. For example, let's say that you have a ministry that has a website of its own and you would like to make it easy for people to quickly navigate to it. Or, perhaps you have a website that is in a second language that you would like people to easily find. Let's discover how you can easily create redirect links within your website's menu. If you are wanting to make a dead link click here.

Note: While in the Menus area, DO NOT create a new menu, as that will overwrite your Main Menu and cause those pages to disappear from view on your site.

  1. From your dashboard menu, select the Menus option from within the Appearance menu item.

  2.  From the Menus screen, click on the Custom Links option.

  3. From the Custom Links dropdown menu enter the URL address you want the link to redirect to into the URL field, the name you would like for your redirect link into the Link Text field, and then select the Add To Menu button.

  4. This will add your new custom menu item to the bottom of your menu items. From there, you can manually drag and drop this item and any other ones that you would like to adjust until they are in your desired order, including moving menu items under your custom link as sub items. Once you have everything in your desired order, select the Save Menu button.
